Getting Started
How does ComplyTX work?
Tell us your business type and location. We match you to state, county, and city compliance requirements automatically. You get a calendar with every deadline, plus reminders before anything's due.
How long does setup take?
Under 5 minutes. Answer a few questions about your business—location, industry, what permits you hold—and your compliance calendar builds itself.
What information do I need to get started?
Your business address, entity type (LLC, corp, sole prop), and any permits or licenses you currently hold. If you have a TABC license or food service permit, have those numbers handy.
How does ComplyTX know which deadlines apply to me?
We've mapped over 25 Texas compliance requirements at state, county, and city levels. Based on your business type, location, and permits, we automatically match you to the ones that apply.
Which areas do you currently support?
We're launching first in Houston and Harris County. Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin are next—join the waitlist and we'll notify you when we expand to your area.
General
What types of businesses does ComplyTX serve?
Any business in Houston or Harris County. We cover core obligations like sales tax, franchise tax, and property tax for everyone. Restaurants, retail stores, professional services, healthcare practices—if you operate in Texas, we track your deadlines.
What deadlines does ComplyTX track?
Over 25 Texas requirements including: Texas Sales Tax, Franchise Tax, TWC Unemployment Insurance, property tax, food service permits, health permits, TABC licenses, fire alarm permits, grease trap inspections, and more. The exact list depends on your business type and location.
How accurate are the compliance dates?
We source our compliance data directly from Texas state, county, and municipal government websites. Our system monitors for regulation changes and updates your timeline automatically. For complex compliance questions, we recommend consulting with a licensed professional.
What's the difference between ComplyTX and hiring a bookkeeper?
A bookkeeper handles your financials. ComplyTX handles your compliance calendar. Many of our users have bookkeepers—they use ComplyTX to make sure nothing falls through the cracks between what the bookkeeper tracks and what the business owner assumes is handled.
Can I use ComplyTX for businesses outside of Texas?
Not yet. ComplyTX is focused exclusively on Texas compliance requirements—state, county, and city levels. We're building deep expertise here first. Support for other states may come based on customer demand.
Ask Teddy (AI Assistant)
What is Ask Teddy?
Ask Teddy is your AI compliance assistant built into ComplyTX. Have a question about Texas sales tax? TABC requirements? When something's due? Ask Teddy gives you instant answers based on Texas state, Harris County, and City of Houston regulations—tailored to your specific business.
How accurate is Ask Teddy?
Ask Teddy's answers are based on verified Texas regulations. It knows your business profile and gives personalized answers. For complex legal or tax questions, we recommend confirming with a licensed professional.
Can Ask Teddy file documents for me?
No. Ask Teddy answers questions and provides guidance, but doesn't submit filings on your behalf. ComplyTX reminds you when things are due and gives you the exact links to file.
Is Ask Teddy available on all plans?
Yes. Ask Teddy is included on every ComplyTX plan, from Solo to Partner.
Reminders & Alerts
How do reminders work?
You choose when to be reminded—7, 14, 30, or 45 days before each deadline. We send email alerts on all plans, plus SMS alerts on Pro and above. Simple filings get shorter notice; complex ones get more lead time.
Can I customize reminder timing?
Yes. You can set different reminder windows for different types of deadlines. Want 45 days notice for franchise tax but only 7 days for grease trap cleaning? You control it.
What if I miss a deadline?
ComplyTX will continue to alert you even after a deadline passes, marking it as overdue. We show you the penalty amount and help you understand next steps. Most filings allow late submission—you just pay a penalty.
Do you send SMS alerts?
Yes, on Pro plans and above. Solo plans include email alerts only. You can opt in or out of SMS at any time.
Restaurants & Food Service
What restaurant-specific deadlines do you track?
TABC license renewals, health permits, food handler certifications, certified food manager requirements, grease trap/FOG inspections, fire alarm permits, sales tax, and franchise tax. If you operate in Houston or Harris County, we've got you covered.
How do you know my specific restaurant deadlines?
During setup, you'll tell us about your permits—TABC license, food service permit, etc. We extract your expiration dates and build your calendar. For sales tax, we ask your filing frequency (monthly/quarterly/annual). For everything else, we use Houston/Harris County standard deadlines based on your business type.
Do you track TABC license renewals?
Yes. We track Mixed Beverage permits, Wine and Beer Retailer permits, and other TABC license types. You'll get reminders before renewal deadlines so you never risk losing your license.
What about grease trap inspections?
Yes. Houston PWD requires regular grease trap cleaning for food service establishments. We track your cleaning schedule and remind you before inspections are due.
Do you actually file the paperwork for me?
Not in the basic plans. We remind you and give you the exact links to file. If you want someone to handle the filing, ask about our Concierge service.
What if I open a 2nd restaurant location?
Upgrade to Pro ($50/month) and add your new location. We'll instantly generate the compliance calendar for that address too—different locations can have different requirements.
Multi-Location & Team Access
Do you support multi-location businesses?
Yes. Solo supports 1 location, Pro supports up to 10, Agency up to 50, and Partner up to 125. Each location gets its own compliance calendar based on its specific address and requirements.
What if my locations are in different cities?
Each location gets requirements matched to its city and county. A Houston location gets Houston rules; a location in unincorporated Harris County gets county-only rules. One dashboard shows everything.
What if I have locations outside Houston?
Currently we support Houston and Harris County. If you have locations in Dallas, Austin, or San Antonio, join the waitlist—those markets are next. Locations outside our coverage areas can't be added yet.
Can my bookkeeper or CPA access my account?
Yes. You can invite your bookkeeper or CPA as a user. They'll see your full compliance calendar and can upload evidence on your behalf.
Pricing & Plans
How much does ComplyTX cost?
Solo starts at $10/month for 1 location. Pro is $41/month for up to 10 locations. Agency and Partner plans are available for firms managing multiple clients. Annual billing saves ~15-20%.

Yes. Upgrade or downgrade anytime from your billing dashboard. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period.
What happens if I exceed my location limit?
You'll be prompted to upgrade when you try to add more locations than your plan allows. Your existing locations and data remain safe.
What happens if I cancel?
You can cancel anytime. You'll keep access until the end of your billing period. We'll send you an export of all your deadlines and filing history.
Compliance & Filing
Does ComplyTX file my documents for me?
No. ComplyTX tracks deadlines and reminds you when filings are due, but we don't submit documents on your behalf. You mark filings as complete in the app once you've submitted them.
Can ComplyTX help me during an audit?
Yes. ComplyTX keeps a complete filing history—when you were notified, when deadlines were due, when you marked items complete. Export this documentation and share it during audits to demonstrate your compliance efforts.
How often is compliance data updated?
Our system monitors Texas government websites regularly for regulation changes. When we detect changes that affect your business, we update your timeline automatically and notify you.
What are the penalties for missing deadlines?
It depends on the filing. Late sales tax starts at 5% and climbs to 10%. TABC violations can exceed $5,000. Miss franchise tax and Texas can forfeit your business. ComplyTX shows you penalty amounts so you understand what's at stake.
Security & Technical
Is my data secure?
Yes. ComplyTX is built on SOC 2 Type II compliant infrastructure, uses encryption in transit and at rest, and follows SOC 2–aligned security best practices. Formal SOC 2 certification is in progress. We never share your data with third parties without your explicit consent.
Who can see my compliance data?
Only you and anyone you invite to your account (like a bookkeeper or CPA). ComplyTX staff may access data for support purposes, but we don't sell or share your information.
What devices can I use ComplyTX on?
Any device with a web browser—desktop, laptop, tablet, smartphone. We're mobile-responsive, so you can check your compliance calendar on the go.
Do you have a mobile app?
Not yet, but it's on our roadmap. For now, our web app works great on mobile browsers. You'll receive SMS and email alerts directly to your phone.
Can I export my compliance data?
Yes. Export your compliance timeline and filing history as PDF or Excel anytime. Useful for sharing with accountants, auditors, or stakeholders.
